Wireless Lighting Workshop

My good friend and fellow photographer, Matt Daniel, shared these scenes from the Wireless Lighting Workshop earlier this week. Yes, the nice policeman really did ask us to move the vintage limo off the historic brick street. J

Wireless Lighting Workshop

My heart was beating, my head was spinning, everything was happening so fast! Before I knew it, Virgil was introducing me and I was ON!

I’m scared to death of public speaking. But I LOVE what I do and love sharing my passion with others! So after the initial jitters wore off, everything went great. My Wireless Lighting Workshop was held at Virgil’s gorgeous studio at CVI Photography. It was hosted by the Professional Photographer of South Carolina. And it was sponsored by folks like Nikon, RadioPopper, Zenfolio, MPIX, and Canvas On Demand. We had a fantastic turnout with about 40 photographers from around the state, some as far away as Greenville! I did a short presentation about the principles of wireless lighting. Then we went out into the historic alley behind the studio and did a LIVE photo shoot…no pressure there!!! J That was followed by dinner, fellowship, and networking. Finally we reconvened to review the images and have more discussion on tools and techniques. It really was a BLAST!

We couldn’t have pulled it off without the generous contributions of many talented folks. I have to thank Virgil, Eddie of ProWedding Entertainment, Frankie of Flowers by Frankie, Juliet of Juliet Elizabeth Photography, Molly of D’Lish Desserts, Dwight of Royal Limousine, Pamela of Makeup Artist Charleston, and my lovely model and favorite client, Brittany McDougal. The best part about the workshop is we raised a ton of donations, including lots of dog food, to donate to the Charleston Animal Society. Many thanks to everyone who participated and everyone who attended!!!

Sanders Law Firm

The Sanders Law Firm just revamped their website and are using one of my scenic photographs of the lowcountry as the cover image. I’m SO EXCITED! I shoot a good bit of landscape and wildlife in my personal work. Yup, on my days off my hobby is…you guest it…photography. J It’s wonderful to see others appreciate these images too. Check out their website at http://www.sanderslawfirm.com/. I’ve gotten to know T.O. Sanders over the years. He is an amazing and truly giving human being. I would highly recommend their firm to anyone!

Wireless Lighting Workshop!

I’ll be teaching a Creative Lighting Workshop on January 25th at my buddy Virgil’s CVI Photography Studio in Summerville. There are a lot of us out there that could use some sort of hands on training to creatively light our subjects with simple off-camera strobes. Adding a simple technique like this to your skill set can separate your work and help you stand out from the competition!

I am collaborating with Virgil, Tammy Bevins, the Professional Photographers of South Carolina and a couple of other vendors that we will recognize very soon.

Please RSVP now. Seats are limited. Email info@cviphotography.com to RSVP.

The workshop is free HOWEVER we are asking all attendees to bring a bag of dog food to donate to the Charleston Animal Society.

Hope to see some familiar faces there.

WE SURVIVED! Imaging USA was fantastic as usual. Cami & I are so pumped up and inspired by all the great speakers and beautiful images and ideas we've seen and heard. Here are a few fun shots from the final day with some of our FAVORITE photographers in the whole world. :-)

Welcome to Nashville!

Cami & I, along with our good friend and fellow photographer, Kate McKinley, finally arrived at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville. We're attending "Imaging USA", the PPA's big national photography convention we go to every year for ideas and inspiration.

After we got settled, I went down to get the lay of the land so I know where we're going for our seminars in the morning. I get down there and staring me in the face is this HUGE, larger-than-life display with one of my images on it! :-) It's a photo of Rugby USA's Team Captain breaking through the masses that I shot last year. A few months ago I got a call saying they'd like to use a couple of my images for some "displays" at the conference this year...I had NO IDEA it was going to be something like this! I'm SUPER STOKED!!! I'll get Cami or Kate to take one of me standing next to it tomorrow...hehehe!

Welcome to Nashville!

A NEW DECADE ARRIVES!

Welcome to 2010!!! The last twelve months of the first decade of the new millennium were a wild ride for Cami & I. We are SO BLESSED to be able to do what we truly love for a living, expressing our passion for life, laughter, and photography in so many creative ways. We owe a HUGE THANK YOU to all our wonderful clients, colleagues, friends, and family. We are honored to be counted among your acquaintances. And we look forward to continuing this Beautiful Journey throughout the New Year!!!

Last Shoot of the Year

I’ve been photographing Jean & Gerry’s extended family over the last six years. (Many thanks to their wonderful daughter, Andrea…she originally contacted me and began this longtime friendship.) It was only fitting that they were my last shoot of 2009! J I met up with them at their beach house on Folly Beach. Even though it was really cold that night, they all braved the uncomfortable temperatures and we all had a BLAST! The lighting was fantastic…everything from a really cool sunset to a really dramatic moonrise. I LOVE IT!!!

Jody & Gerald are Engaged!

I truly enjoyed hanging out with Jody & Gerald during their Engagement Shoot. I photographed Jody’s sister’s wedding a few years ago. So it’s been a real treat reuniting ties with her family and getting to know her better, and see what a beautiful young lady she’s become. I knew Gerald & I were going to hit it off as soon as I met him with his famous baseball cap. If he could wear that thing at the wedding, he probably would. J He’s so laid back, easy going, and fun to be around. I’m SO EXCITED about being their wedding photographer!!!

NASA Does Nikon

NASA just ordered 11 new Nikon D3 bodies as well as several 14-24mm f2.8 lenses. The new gear will be used to document the daily life within the program and on the space station. They join the D2x bodies and a plethora of Nikkor lenses and accessories already in use.

Since I primarily use D3 and D2x bodies with a lineup of all Nikkor lenses, I think I'm in good shape. :-)

Holly & Joseph at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian

I have to send out a HUGE thank you to my good friend and fellow photographer, Richard Middleton, for referring Holly & Joseph to me. They were so much fun to work with!!! Our quirky personalities, love of a good laugh, and appreciation for classic rock matched up perfectly! :-)

Holly & Joseph were married at the gorgeous Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian church. I LOVE shooting here. The ceremony was beautiful, especially with the sanctuary all decorated for the holidays. Their reception was at Alhambra Hall...one of my favorite reception venues. As always, Frankie did a beautiful job with the floral arrangements. And DJ Doug kept the party rockin'.

After watching the Music Video, click here to check out the rest of their wedding photos.

CONGRATULATIONS Holly & Joseph! You guys were AWESOME!!! Keep the flame alive...

Adrienne & Corey at Dunes West

I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Adrienne & Corey over the last year. They are such a neat couple and SO photogenic!

Last week they tied the knot at Dunes West. It's such a beautiful venue with a great staff! My good friend and fellow photographer Kate McKinley was shooting with me that day. We had just enough time to photograph Corey and Adrienne's "First Glance" as well as portraits of the two of them around the grounds before the rain came. Hey, that's supposed to be good luck for them, right? :-) Doug Farmer, my favorite officiate in town, united them. Eddie L from ProWedding Entertainment, my favorite DJ in town, rocked the reception. And Corey's Mom made the cake!!!

Enjoy the slideshow at the bottom of the post. Then Click Here to see the rest of their images. CONGRATULATIONS Adrienne & Corey!!!

The Boone Hall Kids

Photographing Greg & Elizabeth's kids is always such a pleasure. They are so well behaved, love the camera, and actually LISTEN to me! :-) I met up with them at Boone Hall Plantation the other day and we just had a great time...going all over and getting tons of different looks. GOOD LUCK narrowing down your favorites, Elizabeth!!! Hehehe!

Heather & Sam at Trinity United Methodist

Heather & Sam were married Saturday at the historic Trinity United Methodist Church. As a visual artist, I absolutely LOVE military weddings! :-) Heather & Sam's was no exception. They were both so photogenic, easy going, and wonderful to work with. Their reception was held at the Dunes West Club House. These are just a few of my favorites. Click Here to see the rest of their AMAZING story!

CONGRATULATIONS Heather & Sam!!!
