Henry

As a husband and wife, as adopted parents, and as animal lovers...quite possibly the hardest thing Cami and I have ever had to do together was put Henry to sleep. He was laid to rest while we held him in our arms and tears streamed down our faces yesterday at 4:15 after 14 wonderful years with us...almost as long as we've been married! Back then I used to work for a photography company that had me traveling to other cities a lot. Shortly after moving into our new home, I got in around 2:00am from one of these assignments. As I quietly snuck in so as not to disturb Cami, I felt something soft and warm snuggle up against my leg! Cami had rescued Henry through Pet Helpers that day and wanted him to be a surprise for me. He had been abused as a puppy, but Henry soon learned that he had reached the good life! As Cami's dad puts it, "If I believed in re-incarnation, I'd want to come back as a dog in THIS family!" ;-) Henry was well loved and had a long life. Some of his favorite memories would include running on the beach, seeing snow for the first time in Ohio, popping balloons with his teeth at birthday parties, barking at the UPS man, and long walks on the Charleston Greenway. We miss him so much...

There's nothing better in this world world than a spoiled puppy dog! You can tell them apart from the non-spoiled ones! My puppy Sadie only has pink tennis balls and toys!

Our heart goes out to you...last year we lost one puppy and our beloved Bailey. Ya know they are both still with us in one way or another and I know that your dog is with you sitting at your feet your eyes just can't see him anymore.

I imagine it was a very tough day for you. I don't think that it will be an easy week or month either. Henry has been with you 14 years. You cannot easily say "goodbye" to a family member. We all know that dogs' lives are way to short, but when the dog is in your family, it is even shorter.

Chris & Cami,
My heart is breaking for you both because I know exactly what you are going through :( I hope Henry and Bud, my golden retriever, meet and become friends. My advice to you: RUN TO THE NEAREST ANIMAL SHELTER AND GET ANOTHER DOG IMMEDIATELY!!!

Can't wait to see a pic your next "child" :)

I am so sorry to hear about Henry! I am just sick hearing that news...he was such a sweetie and he will be dearly missed. Hopefully, as was in my case; when I lost my beloved Zoe it took a while but she finally sent me a new angel that she knew would be perfect for me! Just you wait and see, Henry and Terra (spelling?) will not let you down! :) It's ironic, but I just rescued a goldie mix that was abandoned and starving at work. He is just as light as Henry...almost white. He was so skittish in the beginning, someone had to capture him for me! But now he is thriving and full of rambunctious energy...he missed the manners class apparently...but he will get it. He's just a pup, but already as big as my Roxie, and she's 40 lbs. Roxie's still not sure she likes sharing me.....!!!!!! ♥ y'all, Allison"

Dear Ones,
The memory photo of a young Henry is just radiant, beautiful. Your memories poignant and beautiful We understand something of what you are experiencing, so that your feelings resonate with us. My greatest mistake was to fail to have our dear Pepper put to sleep and avoid needless pain: you did right by Henry--in every respect. God will heal your hearts; you have such large reservoirs of love.

Chris and Cami, YOu both know my SAM... He is now 12 years old and I say a blessing for each day he is with me. He has that "look" like he is trying to say "it won't be much longer". He pants non-stop and he sleeps when he is not panting. I know you miss Henry. He was featured in most monthly postings. Think of you both often. grandee

Chris and Cami,
The Lyon Family feels your pain of losing dear Henry.
I remember meeting Henry when Jennifer and I came to your house to meet with you about her wedding photographs that you were going to do.
In time the pain will lessen and maybe you can adopt another needy pup. The rescue agency's need more families like you to help the needy.
God bless and yes, "all dogs go to Heaven."

C&C,
Im so sorry to hear about your loss. I'm so late but my condolences. So glad I was able to meet Henry. He was very protective over his parents like any good dog would be. He was blessed to have such good parents.
